"Caring for People is a VNA Tradition"

There comes a time near the end of life when a person needs a special kind of care... a time when traditional treatments no longer offer the hope of a cure... a time when thoughts turn to dying with dignity and peace. VNA hospice provides that special kind of care.

Established in 1978, VNA Hospice is the oldest and most experienced hospice in Texas meeting the medical, psychological, social, spiritual and practical needs of patients and their families during a terminal illness. Symptom management, in-home medical equipment and bereavement counseling are provided by trained and sensitive professionals and volunteers. During 2006, 1,425 patients received 69,718 days of hospice service.

Diagnosed with a terminal illness, Walter chose to receive VNA hospice. He was able to live at home rather than seek hospitalization or nursing home care. For the duration of his illness, Walter remained comfortable. His wife, Helen, was appreciative that Walter was able to remain near his family. Besides palliative care, VNA hospice provided spiritual and emotional support. Donations from the community allow VNA Hospice to care for and comfort patients and their families even when they cannot afford to pay.
