Rick Bastas and Tim Walling have been best friends since seventh grade, but as adults with families and demanding careers, they had few opportunities to see each other. However, once they retired, they found a way to refresh their friendship by choosing VNA Meals on Wheels as a volunteer project they could share. So, in January 2023, the two Oak Cliff natives began delivering meals to clients each Wednesday.

“It’s been a great experience.  Those who receive our deliveries are so appreciative and we feel that we are helping,” says Rick.  “That’s a great feeling. We know we are doing some good work based on our communication with each person we deliver to. And seeing my friend on a regular basis is a bonus benefit!”

Grab a family member or friend and sign up to deliver meals to homebound seniors in your area!  If you have availability, please consider signing up today for a recurring route or a one-time delivery that meets your needs in the Volunteer Portal.

Our summer fan drive is underway! We are collecting fans to keep our homebound seniors cool during the upcoming hot summer months. Please consider helping by:
