The Visiting Nurse Association of Texas (VNA) is proud to announce it has been awarded a $100,000 grant from the Texas Veterans Commission’s Fund for Veterans’ Assistance (FVA) to help expand its Meals on Wheels program for veterans across Dallas County.
Supporting veterans is central to VNA’s mission. Thanks to funding from the Texas Veterans Commission, even more eligible veterans will receive services that help them remain safely in their homes.
Through VNA’s Meals on Wheels program, 50 eligible veterans receive:
- A hot, nutritious meal delivered every weekday, for one year
- Daily, in-person visits from caring volunteers and drivers
- Wellness and safety checks with every delivery
- Referrals to social services and community resources when additional support is needed
Helping More Veterans Live Independently
The Texas Veterans Commission grant will help ensure that more veterans throughout Dallas County have access to nutritious meals, regular wellness checks, and the support they need to continue living safely at home.
If you know a senior veteran—or any homebound neighbor—who could benefit from Meals on Wheels, we encourage you to contact VNA to learn more about eligibility and enrollment.
Since 1934, VNA has served North Texans with compassion, dignity, and integrity. Together, we can honor those who served our country by making sure they never have to face a day—or a meal—alone.
This program is supported by a grant from the Texas Veterans Commission Fund for Veterans’ Assistance. The Fund for Veterans’ Assistance provides grants to organizations serving veterans and their families. For more information, visit www.TVC.Texas.gov.
