VNA Receives Platinum Certification Through SAGECare
|
The Visiting Nurse Association of Texas (VNA) is committed to building a safer, more welcoming and inclusive network of care for LGBTQ elders in our community. Diversity and inclusion help to fuel our innovation and connects us closer to our patients, families, loved ones and the communities we serve. By receiving our Platinum certification through SAGECare, we have ensured that 97% of our hospice staff are trained, aware of and sensitive to the needs and concerns of LGBTQ older adults. We are one of only two hospices within the 16 counties we serve that has the Platinum SAGECare credential.
SAGECare is the country’s largest and oldest organization dedicated to improving the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender older adults. Texas is home to the second largest number of LGBTQ residents. VNA believes it is essential that our patients, clients and their families are treated fairly, with warmth and compassion and knowledge on how best to meet their needs. A Message From Katherine Krause: Thank you!
|
Looking ahead to fall, many of us are readying ourselves for returns to school and others are trying to find the right balance between in-office and hybrid work environments. In a time where morale and engagement are challenging, it’s important to look for ways for teams to connect. Many businesses are looking to reengage their teams while navigating the ever-changing world of COVID. VNA offers a variety of ways to get involved and volunteer. Specifically, VNA Meals on Wheels has opportunities to safely welcome back corporate groups to volunteer together. We can accommodate groups ranging in size. Small-to-medium groups can come to our Haggerty Kitchen with an indoor or outdoor event. Our community room offers space for teams to have a light breakfast and/or lunch as well as team-building exercises. Delivery groups can be assigned in teams or individuals could bring family members to ride along with them. For large groups (200+) we can come to you if you have an outdoor space such as a large parking lot or courtyard. If you would like to get involved individually or as a group, contact Tracie Demery at demeryt@vnatexas.org or 214-689-2653.
Sincerly,
