Care, Comfort and Giggles!
|
In a small, spotless home in far Southeast Dallas, Visiting Nurse Association Hospice Nurse, Onita White, visits 106-year-old Marzell. Ms. Marzell, eating a banana and drinking milk from a straw, is relaxed and comfortable with Onita. She smiles often and quietly giggles as Onita performs her assessment. Ms. Marzells’ daughter, Ethel, is grateful for the care given to her mom by the VNA team. Onita says Marzell is one of the most joyful patients she has and looks forward to seeing her on her regular visits.
The compassion and care our Hospice team provides comes from the heart. Learn more about the hospice experience by clicking here.

A Message From Katherine Krause

I remain in awe of the incredible dedication of our team at the Visiting Nurse Association. Each team member contributes so very much to the mission of this organization and the longer the tenure, the more depth and breadth of knowledge and experience. This experience—provided through many employees—is part of what has made VNA a trusted provider of clinical and social service care in North Texas for 90 years. I’d like to highlight two team members who are retiring and have been with us for more than four decades: Tom Ricciardelli and Rev. Paul Ramler.
Having joined our organization in 1980, Tom has managed legal affairs for the Visiting Nurse Association for 44 years. As general counsel, Tom has had a hand in human resources, legal, marketing, clinical operations, accessibility, and more. His dedication to legal and compliance has enabled the Visiting Nurse Association to safely and effectively deliver top-notch care to our patients and families. Tom also unofficially serves as the VNA historian and can accurately recall events, people, and places throughout our 90-year history.

Paul has served as a VNA Chaplain for nearly 40 years. His impact on the lives of patients, families, staff, and our community has been powerful. In the 1980s, Paul co-authored the training manual, Life After Loss with a VNA social worker, for the Dallas American Cancer Society which was used for decades. He trained countless chaplains and other new staff at VNA and has been a role model to hundreds of employees over the years serving as an expert communicator and listener.
Tom and Paul, thank you for your incredible dedication to our mission and our community. You will be missed. I am so very proud of the team of compassionate professionals we have here at VNA. If you or someone you know would be a good fit for our team, please check out our careers page at www.vnatexas.org/careers.
