A Message From Katherine Krause It’s Time to March for Meals
|
Did you know that more than 43,000 seniors live alone just in the City of Dallas?
Did you know Texas has one of the highest rates of food insecurity in the country?
Did you know that food insecurity leads to a higher likelihood of developing chronic disease such as congestive heart failure, coronary artery disease, and diabetes?

Join VNA Meals on Wheels this March to shine a light on the growing number of American seniors facing hunger and isolation. Throughout the month, community-based Meals on Wheels programs across the country will join forces for the annual campaign to celebrate the volunteers, donors, program staff and local and state leaders who work every day to help more seniors receive the food, friendship, and other services to help them safely age in place. Now more than ever, our senior neighbors need our support amid a lingering pandemic and high inflation.
We invite you to participate in our March for Meals celebration honoring the Older Americans Act Nutrition Program, the federal legislation that helps to fund programs like VNA Meals on Wheels. With VNA and many other Meals on Wheels across the country—especially as we celebrate 50 years of delivering hope—we encourage our community to March for Meals with us!
Throughout the month of March, join VNA in volunteering with Meals on Wheels, making a social media post about the importance of Meals on Wheels, or dining with supporting partners Asian Mint and Empire Baking.
You can also help us serve more seniors in need of nutritious meals, friendly visits, and safety checks:
Thank you for delivering hope to seniors this March!
