VNA Haggerty Kitchen is 12,000 square feet which is 3,000 feet larger than the previous kitchen.  It is the largest Meals on Wheels kitchen in the country, with the capacity to produce 12,000 meals a day.

State-of-the-Art Kitchen Equipment

  • Wall convection ovens that heat meals with steam or dry heat
  • Three 80-gallon kettles
  • Four 60-gallon kettles with mixers
  • Large walk-in freezers
  • Large refrigerator unit
  • Two tray machines that each package 30 meals per minute
  • Machine for packaging individual bread slices/rolls
  • Swedish built ball-bearing dish washing machine

Supply Deliveries

  • Sysco is VNA’s main food provider and makes deliveries two times a week
  • 6,000 cartons of milk are delivered every day
  • Sara Lee bread is delivered two times a week
  • Frozen meals are delivered every 2 weeks
  • Excluding beverages, VNA Meals on Wheels kitchen staff prepares:
    • 3,675 pounds of food daily – 890 pounds of that are fresh greens
    • 18,375 pounds of food weekly
    • 1,136,685 pounds of food annual
