VNA celebrated the opening of its new McKinney office with a Chamber of Commerce ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, Dec. 11.

VNA has served the Collin County community since August 1979 to meet the growing demands of home healthcare in the area. The last two years, VNA has operated in Collin County strictly as a hospice agency, in which time the patient census has tripled and the staff has grown to 38. In fact, the new office has already had to expand once to accommodate the growing staff.

VNA is a nonprofit agency that has been in operation in North Texas for 80 years and is the oldest, most experienced Hospice Care provider in the state. VNA Hospice Care is dedicated to helping patients live their final days in peace and dignity where they are most comfortable. VNA Hospice Care is not a specific place, but rather a philosophy and overall approach to care that helps provide comfort, self-esteem and peace of mind to people in their last days. Hospice does not view the end of life as simply a medical experience, but rather a human life experience aided by expert medical and personal caregivers.

As a nonprofit, VNA welcomes the efforts of trained volunteers to help with Hospice Care. Volunteer training can be done at any time, either in a classroom setting in the VNA office or online at home. If you would like to learn more about volunteering with VNA, please call VNA’s McKinney office at 972-562-0140.

VNA also regularly hosts bereavement luncheons and other events to help those who have lost a loved one. These events are free and open to all. For more information about upcoming bereavement events, please call VNA’s McKinney office at 972-562-0140.
