We’re excited to join North Texas Giving Day for the 16th year!
|
Thanks to your generosity, we raised over $200,000 last year to support Meals on Wheels and Hospice Care—vital programs that bring comfort, dignity, and care to our community.
This year, we’re aiming high again! With 100% of your gift going directly to local nonprofits (thanks to Communities Foundation of Texas covering all fees), every dollar makes a difference.

Community Connections for Older Adults
|
VNA, in partnership with Groundwork Outreach, The Senior Source, and Dallas City Council member Zarin Gracey (District 3), have come together to launch “Community Connections for Older Adults,” an outreach campaign designed to connect residents age 60+, and their caregivers with critical aging-related resources.
This important collaborative effort is jointly funded by Communities Foundation of Texas, The Dallas Foundation, and Lyda Hill Philanthropies. Over the next several weeks, trained Groundwork staff will be canvassing the Singing Hills neighborhood and surrounding areas in sections of the 75232 and 75241 ZIP codes.
Through door-to-door outreach and on-the-ground surveying, the team will listen to residents and gather insights about what services and support are most needed—from food access and transportation to caregiver support and in-home health options. The information collected will directly inform how resources are delivered to the community in the coming months.
The Community Connections for Older Adults campaign launched in August and will continue through September. Community members in the Singing Hills neighborhood and surrounding areas in sections of the 75232 and 75241 ZIP codes who are 60+ years or older, or caring for someone who is, are encouraged to fill out the survey.

A Message from Chris Culak: VNA Provided 1,471,467 Home-Delivered Meals to 7,419 Senior Neighbors Last Fiscal Year
|
VNA had another record-breaking year of serving more seniors than ever…in fact, 10% more. Your generosity fuels the food and friendship VNA Meals on Wheels delivers each weekday. The 4,200 volunteers who delivered meals last fiscal year not only delivered hot meals, but also warm smiles, safety checks and the social connection we all need and deserve.
Yet, the need is so great. As senior hunger has grown in Texas, so have the needs of our Dallas County elderly neighbors. VNA Meals on Wheels eliminated our waiting list in 2019, raising funds to continue adding older adults to service as needed. However, with the uncertain economic climate and more seniors living in poverty, the waiting list has once again started to grow. Currently, there are 186 elderly neighbors waiting for VNA Meals on Wheels service and with adequate funding, their need for food and friendship can be met helping them live a more fully nourished life in their own beloved homes.
What can you do to help?
- Volunteer: Did you know that for every route delivered by a volunteer in lieu of a staff person, VNA can feed a senior for a week? Sign up at vnatexas.org
- Give: $38 can feed a senior for a full week. Visit vnatexas.org/give to learn more.
- Advocate: Ask your representatives to ensure the Older American’s Act and other funding sources support seniors in your community.
Thank you for all you do to support our mission and our community.
