Every year VNA delivers individually wrapped toiletry items to more than 5,400 Meals on Wheels clients on Christmas morning along with their hot, holiday meal. We are asking our volunteers to assist us in making this Christmas one to remember by adopting a senior! Here’s how you can help:
Adopt-a-Senior:
You or your group can “adopt” a senior this holiday season by putting together gift bags. VNA will provide the bags—decorated or plain—for you to fill.
Each gift bag should include:
- 1 full-size tube of toothpaste
- 1 adult toothbrush
- 1 (15 oz.) bottle of shampoo or lotion
- 1 bar of soap
- 1 washcloth
- 1 pair of non-slip socks (unisex)
You will purchase the items, wrap each one at home, and then place them in the gift bag. Bring completed bags to the VNA Meals on Wheels Haggerty Kitchen (1440 W. Mockingbird Ln., Dallas, TX 75247) any day, Monday-Friday, from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m, before Friday, Dec. 19.
Other Ways to Help
Don’t have time to assemble bags? You can order items from our Amazon Wishlist and VNA volunteers will put the bags together.
Please reach out to Yakia McKinnie at yakia.mckinnie@vnatexas.org or Ryan Jackson ryan.jackson@vnatexas.org at 214-689-3222 to let us know your plans or for additional questions.

During the month of October, we had the pleasure of welcoming back Team BAM and Team WOW over at Domino’s for our meal delivery “Day of Caring”. During the Day of Caring, this team of 84 volunteers helped deliver hope to our Dallas County seniors.
By partnering with us, the volunteers representing Domino’s were able to make a positive impact on the Dallas County community by delivering 706 meals to our clients, equal to a cost savings of $1,227.15. Thank you again to the Domino’s staff at Team BAM and Team WOW for partnering with us, and we look forward to hosting your team again in the future!
If you and your group is interested in partnering with VNA Meals on Wheels, please contact our Community Health & Engagement Coordinator Yakia McKinnie at yakia.mckinnie@vnatexas.org or 214-689-2464.
