It’s Power of Pie Time — Let’s Bake a Difference!
|
Thanksgiving is around the corner, and we’re serving up pies with a purpose! Support VNA while treating yourself (and your people) to some seriously sweet fall goodies.
Order your pumpkin and pecan pies ($25) and pumpkin bread ($15) now through November 20th at www.powerofpie.org.
These delicious treats are donated by some of North Texas’ top-notch bakers — they’re un-pie-lievably good and perfect for your holiday table. They also make sweet gifts for friends, family, teachers, coworkers, and clients!
The best part? Every purchase helps deliver meals and care to homebound seniors and seriously ill patients in our community. Now that’s what we call a sweet deal.
This year, we have 11 pickup locations — including McKinney, Denton, Fort Worth, and across Dallas.
Pickup dates: November 25 & 26 – just in time for your Thanksgiving festivities!

Every year VNA delivers individually wrapped toiletry items to more than 5,400 Meals on Wheels clients on Christmas morning along with their hot, holiday meal. We are asking our volunteers to assist us in making this Christmas one to remember by adopting a senior! Here’s how you can help:
Adopt-a-Senior:
You or your group can “adopt” a senior this holiday season by putting together gift bags. VNA will provide the bags—decorated or plain—for you to fill.
Each gift bag should include:
- 1 full-size tube of toothpaste
- 1 adult toothbrush
- 1 (15 oz.) bottle of shampoo or lotion
- 1 bar of soap
- 1 washcloth
- 1 pair of non-slip socks (unisex)
You will purchase the items, wrap each one at home, and then place them in the gift bag. Bring completed bags to the VNA Meals on Wheels Haggerty Kitchen (1440 W. Mockingbird Ln., Dallas, TX 75247) any day, Monday-Friday, from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m, before Friday, Dec. 19.
Other Ways to Help
Don’t have time to assemble bags? You can order items from our Amazon Wishlist and VNA volunteers will put the bags together.
Please reach out to Yakia McKinnie at yakia.mckinnie@vnatexas.org or Ryan Jackson ryan.jackson@vnatexas.org at 214-689-3222 to let us know your plans or for additional questions.

Group Highlight of the Month
|
During the month of September, we had the pleasure of welcoming back the Technology team at Southwest Airlines for our meal delivery “Day of Caring”. This team of 33 volunteers exemplified their company’s commitment to showing heart in action.
By volunteering with us, Southwest Airlines staff were able to make a positive impact on the Dallas County community by delivering 165 meals to our clients, equal to a cost savings of $276.45. Thank you again to the staff at Southwest Airlines for partnering with us, and we look forward to hosting your team again in the future!
If you and your group is interested in partnering with VNA Meals on Wheels, please contact our Community Health & Engagement Coordinator Yakia McKinnie at yakia.mckinnie@vnatexas.org or 214-689-2464.
