Accounting Manager Lee Ann Hendricks has always had a knack for numbers. After years at an accounting firm, she was referred to the Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) Accountant position by a now co-worker. That was ten years ago, and she’s never looked back.
Recently promoted to Manager, Lee Ann oversees accounts payable, accounts receivable, audit prep and payroll, as well as end-of-year financials and reports. She has a small but mighty team who help ensure the organization’s financial health. “I love the people I work with here at VNA. I love the environment and the autonomy my job affords me,” says Lee Ann.
In addition to being a VNA staff member, Lee Ann is a faithful Meals on Wheels volunteer. She began volunteering years ago and now does 1-2 routes per week in DeSoto. “I love my people! I get attached—I’ve cried in the car when someone passes and visited some if they move to a nursing home,” she said. She was particularly moved when a family member called her directly to say ‘thank you.’ Lee Ann says, “If you have the time to volunteer, I highly encourage you to do so.”
At home, Lee Ann is a busy wife and mother of three children. When she’s not working or volunteering, you’ll find her cheering on the local high school sports teams as well as college and professional football teams. She also spends a lot of time at the track with her youngest child, who hopes to be a competitive track and field athlete.
