Our third annual Meals on Wheels Kids Camp was featured in the Oak Cliff Advocate this week. About 20 campers, ages 8–11, made greeting cards, packed hot and cold meals alongside our kitchen staff, and rode along to deliver them to neighbors at two Oak Cliff senior communities.
As Robin Plotkin, VNA communications and events manager, told the Advocate, the camp exists to teach volunteerism early — showing kids that even at their age, they can care for people who need it.
The campers seemed to agree. One 10-year-old told the reporter that delivering meals was his favorite part of camp, after bonding with a client who shared his October birthday.
