Christmas in June? Adopt-A-Senior holiday project is here!
|
You can help make the holiday season bright for a senior in need! Each year, VNA brings holiday cheer to the homebound seniors we serve by delivering thoughtful gifts and a warm holiday meal on Christmas Day. These small acts of kindness make a big impact, reminding our clients that they are valued and not forgotten. This season, we invite our dedicated volunteers and corporate partners to make an even greater difference by adopting a senior. By creating gift bags, you help us ensure every senior feels cared for and celebrated during the holidays.
Each holiday gift bag should include the following essential items:
- Full-size tube of toothpaste
- Adult toothbrush
- 15-ounce bottle of shampoo or lotion
- Bar of soap
- Washcloth
- Non-slip socks (unisex)
Contact VNA Meals on Wheels at (214) 689-2653 or email Tracie at demeryt@vnatexas.org with how many seniors you’d like to adopt! From the comfort of your own home or as a group event, you’ll personally wrap each thoughtful item and place it in a festive holiday gift bag provided by VNA. Once your gifts are ready, simply drop them off at the VNA Meals on Wheels Haggerty Kitchen, located at 1440 W. Mockingbird Ln., Dallas, TX 75247, Monday through Friday, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
To learn more or to get involved, please contact Tracie Demery or you can visit our Amazon Wishlist to purchase items needed to help make this Christmas bright! Together, we can make this Christmas truly special!

Our Community Champions for June are our friends at Good Shepard Episcopal School!
|
We had the pleasure of welcoming a team of six volunteers from Good Shepard Episcopal School for our meal delivery “Day of Caring” as they celebrated their schoolwide Day of Service. With a servant spirit, the staff at Good Shepard Episcopal School are committed to making a difference in the communities they work, live, and play. By volunteering with us, the volunteers representing Good Shepard Episcopal School were able to make a positive impact on the Dallas County community. We’d like to thank the staff at Good Shepard Episcopal School again for partnering with us, and we look forward to hosting your team again in the future!
Remember – every day is a great opportunity to bring joy and compassion to our senior neighbors in Dallas County who are in need! If you’re interested in delivering meals, please contact the Volunteer Team at volunteer@vnatexas.org to register for a route. Deliveries take place from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Typically, meal deliveries take about an hour to an hour and a half, making it easy to fit them into your lunch break.
Don’t want to deliver alone? Feel free to bring a friend, family member, or co-worker to join you! We are always looking for new volunteers and groups to join the thousands of volunteers who are already delivering.
