May is National Military Appreciation Month
|
As we commemorate National Military Appreciation Month, we reflect with deep respect on the selfless service of our nation’s military personnel—past and present—whose courage, dedication, and sacrifice have preserved the freedoms we hold dear. VNA Meals on Wheels is proud to serve nearly 400 veterans and veteran spouses. This month is not only a time to express gratitude, but also a moment to embody the values our service members represent. One meaningful way to honor their legacy is by giving back to our communities.
Volunteering with VNA Meals on Wheels provides a tangible opportunity to serve—delivering nourishment and human connection to homebound seniors and those in need. Just as our military members protect and care for others, we too can serve by ensuring that no neighbor is forgotten or left behind.
This National Military Appreciation Month, let us pay tribute not only with words, but with action—by continuing the spirit of service through compassionate community engagement.

Join Parker at VNA Meals on Wheels Kids Camp This Summer!
Come to camp and discover how you can make a difference — just like Parker!
At VNA Meals on Wheels Kids Camp, you’ll:
- Learn about good nutrition
- Understand the impact of isolation on seniors
- Tour a real commercial kitchen
- Help deliver meals to neighbors in need
- …and so much more!
Parker says he’s excited to help “feed the people who can’t get out of their houses.” Delivering meals makes him feel like he’s really making a difference.
As Parker asks, “What if there were no more people to serve Meals on Wheels? How are they going to get their food? That’s why they have us!”
Come join us at camp and learn how you can be part of something bigger. You’ll make friends, have fun, and learn how to serve your community — one meal at a time!
Must be ages 8-11.

A special shout out to our Community Champion Groups this Month: Texas Capital Bank and Atmos Energy!
|
This month, employees from Texas Capital Bank and Atmos Energy participated in separate Days of Caring. Texas Capital Bank delivered meals on Tuesday, May 13th, while Atmos Energy delivered meals on Thursday, May 15th.
We were pleased to welcome more than 80 employees to these events. Together, the teams served more than 500 clients by delivering food and friendship to some of our highest-need areas of Dallas County. Both organizations are valued partners of VNA, and they consistently dedicate themselves to making a positive impact in the communities where they work, live, and play.
The savings generated from these efforts will allow the VNA Meals on Wheels program to extend meal services for clients by an additional week. We would like to express our gratitude to the volunteers from Texas Capital Bank and Atmos Energy for the significant impact they had in serving their communities. We look forward to welcoming these amazing teams back again soon!
